Year 7s celebrate their first 100 days at Liston College

On Tuesday afternoon, our new students celebrated the completion of the 100 day induction program. The aim of the program is to help our new year 7 students to transition from Primary School to Liston College. During the program, all year 7 students completed activities alongside their peers and their year 13 mentor to gain knowledge and information about what makes Liston the unique school it is.

Our year 13 mentors organised and led a very successful afternoon shared by parents, students and staff. Niko Fuiava, our MC, opened the afternoon to welcome parents, and we joined together in Karakia led by Tukala Logan. A shared lunch followed which filled the tables in TA block and showcased the diversity of our new cohort. This was a special opportunity for parents and staff to finally meet after Covid restrictions had often interrupted events planned in the school calendar. The boys were also able to spend more time with their senior mentors where students enjoyed an afternoon outside off their scheduled timetable.

A huge thank you to our Year 13 mentors who have clearly made an impact on these young men’s lives, helping them to learn more about the College and most importantly feel a sense of belonging in a brand new setting. We hope your connection with one another continues to grow as the year continues. Thank you also to our parents and caregivers, Year 7 teachers, Mr Dooley and Mr Girven for coming to celebrate and for your continued support throughout the year.

Noho ora mai,

Phoebe Andrews, Year 7 Dean
