Liston College Navigation

Waitakere Yr7&8 Football Zone Day

Liston College represented by Amaan Mohamed, Aidan O’Malley, Cillian Kamdem, Cooper Ballard, Hrithik Lachaiya, Lucas Fernandes, Mikhail Mutuc, Nasir Hanif, Oliver French, Dante Bava-Young, Rayen Bao, Rodrigo Benevides Panassollo, Ryan Scott and Theo Hall, made a good start to the day in game 1.

The team overwhelmed Glen Eden Intermediate School B 4 - nil, with all four goals coming from Mikhail Mutuc. The individual brilliance of Mikhail was complemented by a solid team effort. Every boy contributed to the successful result.

In game 2, and although the Liston boys dug deep, the size and strength of the Blockhouse Bay Intermediate A boys resulted in a 3-nil win to them. Disappointed but not defeated, Liston quickly bounced back with a comprehensive 4-nil victory over Te Atatu with goals from Mikhail (2), Aiden (1) and Cillian (1) in the quarter finals.

In the semis, Liston came from behind to beat a spirited Henderson A team 3 goals to one, with all 3 goals coming from Mikhail.

In the finals, Liston came up against the same Blockhouse Bay team that had earlier beaten them but this time Liston put up a strong effort trailing 2 – 1 until the dying minutes when Blockhouse Bay scored a third. Final score was 3 – 1 to Blockhouse Bay.

Despite the loss, our Liston boys represented the College with pride, making their coach, Mark Ballard, the parents and teachers all very proud. The future of Liston College football looks bright.
