Stem Subjects and Careers

Durings Term 3 and 4 Year 8 will be involved in a project to irrigate the student garden area using renewable energy and water sources and establish a native tree nursery next to the existing Maara Kai ( food garden ). The project will involve an investigation of Stem subjects and Careers – Subjects and Careers using Science, Maths, Engineering and Technology.

The project will kick off with three events in August.

 

Visit by Professor Andrew McDaid : Thursday 4th August 9.45- 10.45

 

Professor McDaid is a Liston Old Boy and Professor in Robotics at Auckland University. He will be speaking to the Year 8 students about his work, STEM subjects and careers and the challenges in their current project. There will be two talks – 9.50 and 10.20. All Liston parents and whānau are welcome to attend. Please contact Tony Worth to register

MOTAT STEAM BUS : 1hour slots on August 25th and 26th

Motat comes to Liston with the opportunity to partake in real world Science experiences. There are limited places for places for parents and whānau to join in. Please contact Tony Worth to register.
