For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Next week I will be sending my very last communication to you as I step down as Principal of Liston College and start my retirement years. I will be sad to leave Liston College, however I know the College will be in the most capable hands of Stephen Dooley the newly appointed Principal.
This week Steve Dooley was introduced to the Senior Leaders and a number of staff who were on-site. Everyone who met him, commented what a fabulous appointment the Board has made.
I can confirm, and am proud, that 100% of our teaching staff are double vaccinated and as we recruit new members of staff, the have to be double vaccinated as well.
Although many events during the year were cancelled, I would like to thank the many parents and caregivers who were able to give of their time so generously. I have been fortunate to have had such a committed and supportive community.
I wish to acknowledge the hard work of the staff throughout the year. I have stated many times that the success of a school requires a strong partnership between home and school. We have this at Liston College - and I do not take it for granted. Especially as this year has seen such disruption to the normal school routine, something I did not anticipate.
For those staff who are not returning next year, I wish them every success for the future – James Devereaux, Katrina Banks, Rie Ardern, Santhosh Samuel, Satoko Shibata and Pavin Masilamani.
As mentioned above, next week I will send out my final communication – a reflection on the time I have been at Liston College.
Every blessing to you and your family.
Chris Rooney, Principal
