On Wednesday 12th June Liston celebrated Matariki in a student lead assembly, with whanau and with our neighbouring secondary schools, Waitakere College and St Dominic's College. All three schools performed Kapa Haka. We were lead in a Haka Powhiri by our Kaumatua , Warahi Paki, Tamaoho, Waikato Tainui, Linda Paki, Te Taou, Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara me Te Kawerau a Maki.
Kapa Haka leader Zyrus Hetaraka, Ngati Kahungunu, spoke beautifully on the pae pae in Te Reo Maori, as did Warahi, Mr Rooney and Tama from Waitakere College. Special thanks to Mr Rob Purchase, Grandfather of Slade Wiezorek, Nga Puhi, who spoke for whanau.Congratulations to newly commissioned Kapa Haka leaders.
