On Wednesday 22nd May, the Level 1 Geography class took part in their first field trip of the year heading to different Volcanoes around Auckland.
Using a bus as a class, we toured around Auckland stopping at Mount Wellington, One Tree Hill, Mount Eden and Auckland Domain. At the different location sites, we were to draw a field sketch of the designated area facing a certain compass direction. We would also record measurements and take pictures for our internal assessment, using our skills we learnt in class.
By experiencing the Volcanoes physically, we would get a clear understanding of how different volcanoes in Auckland have been used and modified by the Early Maori, Early Europeans and how Present Citizens use the land today.
Overall the trip was a great experience and thanks to Mr Devereaux and Mr Girven, we were able to use our time and the area to the fullest. This was an enjoyable learning experience for all as every one of us had a better understanding of volcanoes in Auckland.
