Board Announcement - New Principal

The Board of Trustees of Liston College is very pleased to announce that Stephen (Steve) Dooley has been appointed as the new Principal of our school. Steve will join Liston College from the start of the 2022 school year.

Steve comes to us from Sacred Heart College where he has been Principal since 2019. He brings over 20 years’ experience in school leadership experience and has lived the Edmund Rice ethos and charism having served in 3 senior leadership roles over 11 years at a Christian Brothers school.

He brings strong values, vision, commitment to excellence and strategic thinking to this role. His experience in Catholic boys’ schools, as well as two years spent at a Catholic boys’ boarding school in Ireland, ensures he is well equipped to continue to build on, and enhance, the success of Liston College.

Steve comes to Liston with the support of his wife Annabel, and his three sons. He is a proud Catholic and is a parishioner of St Mary’s Northcote.

The appointment of a new Principal is the single most important decision for a Board, and throughout the process we have been conscious that we are making a decision on behalf of the entire Liston community – past, present and future. It was a challenging process; however, the Board is extremely confident that, in Stephen Dooley, we have a new Principal who is both an outstanding educational leader and a leader who is focused on ensuring the continued success of our students and school.

I am confident that as you get to know Steve you will share the Boards excitement about his appointment and the energy and leadership he will bring to Liston College.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to once again acknowledge Chris Rooney for his unwavering support and dedication to Liston College over the past 45 years, including his 22 years of leadership as Principal.
