Liston College Navigation

Rugby News 28.07.23

Saturday afternoon, in front of a large, vocal crowd the 1st XV won a nail-biting encounter with King’s College 25-24, thanks to a penalty from Player of the Day, Motu Pasikala with only minutes to go.

This was a significant win for the team against a perennial top 4 team where previous encounters have been rather one-sided in King’s favour since Liston College’s return to the 1A competition.

The two evenly matched teams exchanged the lead a number of times during the game, with Liston tries scored by Motu Pasikala, Liga Leapai and Captain Simi Veatupu. Simi’s try is in the running for try of the season.

Along with the forementioned, outstanding games from senior leaders Max Dillon and Joshua Fuluifaga alongside Year 11 Daniel Lawrence paved the way to their team’s 4th win in 1A this season to go along with the 3 preseason wins.

This weekend the school takes on De La Salle who are on a run to the semi-finals to be followed on August 5 against Dilworth School.

We also celebrated the achievements of a number of players over the past fortnight with presentation of Honours caps to boys who have reached 18 competition games for the 1st XV:

Levi Vaitohi, Joshua Fuluifaga, Bernard Trevor, Joshua Leo, Keanu Hughes, Jacob Tevaga and James Manuha’apai.
