Presence

A word that I think should be commonly associated with Liston College.

Being a Catholic school; within the Blessed Edmund Rice tradition - Presence in this sense means much more than simply turning up to school on time.

Being “present” in the moment is a mental, emotional and spiritual decision. When boys are “present” in this way - having still minds and open hearts - truly great things are possible. Faith is nourished, relationships are authentic, self-belief ignites and learning becomes exciting.

Our school motto could not be more powerful. “In Christ We Live” implies a necessary spiritual presence. An eternal presence inside each of us. Awareness of this presence is the “good news” taught in the Gospels and is the only real essentiality to living a fulfilled and joyful. This is what makes Liston special, it is the great purpose of our school and it is the promise to the families that enrol their sons.

Congratulations to:

  • The giant killing 1st XV on another great win this season beating Kings College for the first time in Liston’s history in a thrilling contest last Saturday. The community support at the game was fantastic as was the heartening number of Liston old boys who joined us in the pavilion for the memorable day.
  • Liston Men of the Week:
    • Year 10 Lucas Liu
    • Year 13 Gabriel Remedios

Good luck to our 1st V basketball team in their top of the table clash vs Northcote College at 6.30pm tonight.

It has been an excellent start to the term.
