Liston College Navigation

Message from Mr Dooley 28 April 2023

Although our first newsletter of the term is not out until next Friday, I wanted to write a note to acknowledge the last few days.

Firstly, thank you for the many messages of support the school has received this week. This is undoubtedly a difficult time for our Liston community as we mourn Justin Romero, a much loved Year 13 student. Our hearts, prayers and love continue to go out to Justin’s family and we will be sure to pass on the condolences from our whole community.

The care and support for our boys remains our highest priority and I would like to acknowledge our hard working staff and pastoral care team for their untiring work this week.

We have communicated to the whole school, that the College Chapel and Pavilion are available as safe spaces where boys can reflect and pray quietly or talk to an experienced staff member or trained counsellor. As I mentioned in a message to Year 13 parents last night, perhaps what has struck myself and the staff most has been how the boys are looking after each other and encouraging communication amongst themselves. We are very proud of all of them, and we hope you are too.

Parents, do not hesitate to let us know if you would like extra support for your son at school. Liston College Staff are available to you at any time as well as the external agencies for teenage wellbeing as listed below.

School routines and structure, as well as time with friends and family, become very important in times like this. On this note, it is a real positive that for the majority of Liston students, their winter sports competitions begin over the coming week. We wish the best of luck to all our Liston Sportsmen.   Please also find below a reminder of key event dates this term.

God Bless and Kia Kaha
