After two years of not being able to hold our athletics day the opportunity for our young men to demonstrate their athletic abilities finally arrived on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th of February.
After the traditional walking-in ceremony of house chants, the four houses of Cook, Kupe, Pompallier and Tasman assembled for the day on the field in front of the Pavilion.
Throughout Thursday, participation levels were high with students competing in field events such as long jump, high jump and shot-put. Running alongside the field events various track disciplines such as the 400m and 1500m were taking place.
After lunch it was time for the tug-o-war, an opportunity for strength and tactics to combine.
Friday unfortunately was cut short due to the rain interfering with suitable conditions. It was, however, fantastic to see boys eager to line up for the 100m heats and other finals during the morning session.
The two days offered a great opportunity to be together as a school community and celebrate the achievements of our young men.
