English standards fulfilling the literacy requirement for University Entrance
In brief:
- 4 credits at level 2 or higher are required in Reading and 4 credits in Writing at level 2 or higher from the standards listed below
- The literacy requirement can be fulfilled in either English or Te Reo Māori, but not a combination of both.

- The following will be recognised for the Waikato Certificate of Studies, English:
Certificate of Studies (CS) 2.1 and 3.1 can count for the university entrance Writing requirement. Certificate of Studies (CS) 2.2 and 3.2 can count for the Reading requirement. - Y = The standard is recognised for the reading and/or writing credits.
