What can you study at Liston College?
Liston College has a flexible and comprehensive curriculum and qualifications for students from Years 7 to 13 (11-18 years). In the senior school, The National Certificate in Educational Achievement, Levels 1 to 3 is offered as well as University Entrance at Year 13.
At Liston College there are opportunities for academic achievement, whether a students wishes to pursue an academic or a vocational pathway. Our flexible and comprehensive curriculum provides real opportunities for each student to achieve and develop their full potential, whether it be spiritually, intellectually, aesthetically or physically.
Liston College’s commitment to achievement is demonstrated through a range of learning experiences: a broad curriculum at all levels, learning support and ESOL and an excellence in learning and teaching. The school sets high academic standards and provides modern facilities in an atmosphere which educates young men in a Christian environment centred on Catholic Values in the tradition of Edmund Rice.
A number of teachers are employed for the teaching of English and the support of International Students at Liston College. Classrooms and resources are dedicated to the students and the teachers are available to both to teach English and assist with other subjects.
International students arriving at Liston College:
- Are assessed for their English language ability and then placed into appropriate subject choices.
- Will have timetables made to suit the individual students language ability and their curriculum needs.
- Can access all options available (depending upon their standard of English)
- Are enrolled in an ESOL language programme (English for Speakers of Other Languages), tailored to suit the individual student needs.
- Can access ESOL classes at all times
- Are not mainstreamed (placed into regular classes)until they have a reasonable understanding of English
- will have their academic progress closely monitored
