Liability
The following points outline the limit of Liston College’s liability:
- Liston College shall not be liable for any loss or damage to property or persons, however caused, except where such liability is imposed by New Zealand law.
- Liston College reserves the right to change the course of study or the homestay arrangements of any student if it is deemed to be in the best interests of the student to do so.
- The Tuition Agreement may be terminated by Liston College if an International Student breaches any of the rules or requirements of enrollment at Liston College or is excluded from the college by the Board of Trustees.
- Where a Tuition Agreement is terminated and / or a student is excluded from Liston College, the costs associated with the return journey home will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian, not Liston College.
- Liston College reserves the right to decline any student enrolment at the school without explanation, at the discretion of the Principal or the Director-International Students.
- Prior to commencing study at the school, students may be required to undergo, and make available to the school, a full medical examination by a doctor of the school’s choice.
All disputes will be dealt with according to the Ministry of Education’s Code of Practice.
New Zealand Laws and Regulations
Whilst in New Zealand, students are subject to the laws of New Zealand as well as Liston College School Code of Conduct and it’s School Rules (see appendix 2). The law applies to International Students in the same way as they apply to New Zealand residents and citizens.
Code of Practice
Liston College has signed the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Ministry for Education. Complete copies of the Code are available on request from Liston College or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website at http://www.minedu.govt.nz goto international.
