Dear Parents and Caregivers
Strategic Plan
Thank you to everyone who made submissions towards the Strategic Plan. A final version of this will be available early next year.
Year 10 Camp
The annual Year 10 camp was held at Tauwharanui and was very successful. Congratulations to Mr Lord and his team who provided many opportunities for the students to experience activities which they may not have had before. Photos from camp are included in this newsletter.
Last Day of Term
Please note that the students will be dismissed at 12.15pm on Thursday 10 December - the last day of term. Buses will run at their normal time.
Wider Living Days
I wish the boys an enjoyable and safe couple of days as they partake in various activities this week. This is a good opportunity for them to 'wind down' at the end of what has been a busy yet productive year.
BYOD
2016Liston College began a trial in 2014 where students in selected Year 7 and Year 8 classes were able to bring their own approved digital device to school. The purpose of bringing a digital device such as a laptop or tablet is to assist the student in his work inside and outside of the classroom. During 2015 this trial was extended to include all of Year 7 – 9 classes. After a largely successful trial it has been decided to extend BYOD to include all students in Years 7 - 13 in 2016. Further information is noted below in this newsletter.
Thank you
I would like to thank the many parents and caregivers who have given their time so generously during the year. I am fortunate to have such a committed and supportive community. While the boys may not say it, they do appreciate your involvement in the many activities throughout the year. We could not offer the range of extra-curricular activities without your help. The staff also appreciate your support.
I wish to acknowledge the hard work of the staff throughout the year. I have stated many times that the success of a school requires a strong partnership between home and school. We have this at Liston College - and I do not take it for granted. For those staff who are not returning next year, I wish them every success for the future.
Mr John Carroll
John Carroll retires from a lifetime of teaching in Catholic schools. I wish to acknowledge his service and dedication to Liston College for the past 36 years most of which saw him fulfill the role of Deputy Principal. I wish John a long rewarding retirement.
God bless you and your families.
